Daily Bild Plans One-Off XXL Weekend Edition
The largest circulation newspaper in Europe, Bild, plans to publish an XXL version on Saturday to enter the Guinness book of records, it said.
The daily is to double in size to measure 52.8 centimeters by 77.7 centimeters (20.8 inches by 30.6 inches) in what also appears as a bid to spur sales.
Bild, known for breaking scandals and publishing pictures of semi-nude women on its front page, has already broken the mold in the past, publishing an entirely 3D version last year.
Put out by the Axel Springer group, Bild has a daily circulation of 3.5 million copies and estimates it total readership at 12 million people.
In addition to its scandals and racy photos, the newspaper has considerable political clout and in early 2010 led a protest campaign against German financial aid for indebted Greece.
