Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea will work on securing consensus over a new president, MP Farid al-Khazen said after meeting him on Monday.
"There will be a president in the January 9 session," added al-Khazen, who has emerged as a potential presidential candidate.
"The meeting was fruitful and I sensed keeness on Lebanon's future and stability," al-Khazen said.
He added: "We have entered a new phase that requires commitment to the international agreements that were approved in Cabinet and the implementation of the Taif Agreement."
