Speaker Nabih Berri on Sunday raised the alarm over the ongoing deadly clashes at the Ain el-Hilweh Palestinian refugee camp, in a rare comment over the recurrent violence there.

Speaker Nabih Berri has noted that rejecting a “technical” extension of parliament's term is aimed at “paving the way for vacuum in parliament and consequently the other constitutional institutions.”

Speaker Nabih Berri reiterated on Wednesday that he strictly refuses any extension of the parliament term if it was not for technical reasons, al-Joumhouria daily reported.

“We must distinguish between a technical parliament extension and a regular one. I will never accept another extension,” Berri told his visitors on Tuesday.
