Army Receives New Shipment of U.S. Ammunition

The army on Friday received a new shipment of ammunition as part of the U.S. military assistance program to the Lebanese Armed Forces, state-run National News Agency reported.
“The army's Logistics Brigade received at the Rafik Hariri International Airport a quantity of ammunition of various types, in the presence of a number of officers and members of the U.S. defense cooperation bureau in Lebanon,” NNA said.
“This new batch is part of the U.S. assistance program to the Lebanese army and of the commitments and agreements signed between the two sides,” NNA added.
The first shipment of arms and ammunition was delivered to the army on August 29 as part of U.S. military aid aimed at supporting the army in its combat of terrorism.
U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale has said that “support for the Lebanese army and other security services is a top priority for the U.S.”
Deadly clashes broke out between the army and Islamist gunmen in the Bekaa border town of Arsal on August 2 over the arrest of a member of the al-Qaida-affiliated al-Nusra Front, in one of the most dangerous spillovers of the Syrian conflict to date.
The fighting ended with a ceasefire on August 7 but the militants kidnapped around 35 troops and policemen.
The development prompted the U.S. to pledge to bolster the army, while Saudi Arabia unveiled a grant of one billion dollars dedicated to the military.

FT seems very upset and frustrated that our army is getting support. FT- being that you have intimate knowledge of the "obsolete" equipment the army is receiving. please provide that list along with the quantities for us to collectively protest to our politicians forcing them to do a better job negotiating. Let's be a team here and work towards a better Lebanon and a stronger army.

Khamenei controlls a "sovereign wealth fund" of north of 100 Billion dollars. What is the expense of 1B dollars in yearly expenses to throw to HA yearly to be able to use Lebanon as a pawn?

Daesh is a criminal terrorist organization that needs to be eradicated from the globe. This is the first priority. We all agree on that.
However, Daesh was welcome in lebanon only because HA created an atmosphere conducive to it by its oppression of half the lebanese population (including shias ) and stealing the decisions of peace and war from Lebanese.
It is not a sectarian issue. Hashem Salman was killed by shias. Hanin Ghaddar is being treatened by shia. HA are doing a a cold calculated coup that we are all victims, including shias.

Flamer, first of all, it was Syria who legitimised Hezbollah. It was Syria who changed all the districts so pro-Syrian politicians could be elected to the Lebanese government. It was Syria who outlawed all the Christians (Aoun and Gemayel were in exile, Geagea was imprisoned), and Saad Hariri wasn't even a politician until his dad was assassinated. So stop calling all these March 14 politicians Syrian lackeys.

And why do you always discredit US arms shipments to Lebanon? Would you say the same thing if Russia armed the LAF? At least someone is giving the LAF weapons, as the French and Saudis stalled the weapons deliveries.

Hahahahaha yeah so that's why after Hariri's assassination, Hezbollah drove its supporters in vans to the March 8 rally thanking Syria for it's occupation. That's why they blew up the lead investigator when he discovered that the phone networks traced back to a Hezbollah hospital (or was it made up on spreadsheets?). That's why Ghazi Kanaan, leader of the Syrian moukhabarat in Lebanon, was blown up by Assad in Damascus.

Now we ask for Nassrallah to hand over or volunteer in handover weapons to the legitimate security force, the respected LAF.

Yep, Hellfire Missiles have been shipped to the LAF by the USA as of September 12, 2014.
For the US, Lebanon is a strategic contain state since Da'eg is moving west seeking an outlet to the sea and wants Tripoli. They won't get it. Lebanon will stand tall, and the US will back us in that stand.
